Happy 6th Birthday Hudson

Dear Hudson,

You entered the world on August 25, 2009 and have brought nothing but joy ever since.
Watching you grow as you absorb the world around you, and are so inquisitive and delighted to learn with that intense love of playing sports, I'm reminded daily of the treasure that you bring to my life. The saying goes "The days are long but the years are short.". This is never more true than when I look at you.
You have matured so much lately and transformed from a little boy into this big kid who wants to do everything independently. Your kindness shines as you are always looking out for and trying to take care of others to ensure that everyone around you is happy.
You recently started 1st grade. Just typing that creates tears in my eyes, but I could not be more proud of how well you are doing and how smart you are.
You still live for sports and just started your 4th soccer season. You played another season of baseball in the Spring, and you are a great swimmer.
Your favorites:
Color- blue
Food- mac and cheese
Toy- football and soccer ball
Sport- baseball and soccer
Movie- Planes
Place to Eat- Red Robin
Song- House Party by Sam Hunt

It is unbelievable to me that I'm now the mother of a 6 year old. I must constantly remind myself as you are growing older, bigger, wiser, and more mature that you are doing exactly what God intended for you to do.  These bittersweet moments and milestones are HIS plan and so we celebrate because we are thankful for his blessings on your life.

This year for your birthday, I have 6 wishes for you...

1. Set goals and strive toward them. Work hard. It will pay off, even if it's down the road. Hard work always pays off.

2. Keep your friendly and joyful personality.  You never meet a stranger.  You'll never know when your smile and conversation might make a difference in someones day.  Be a light everyday.

3. Keep your competitiveness and determination, but remember to embrace the challenges.  As much as I would love to see you always succeed, that's not reality.  There will always be challenges and losses.  Failures are where your character will be built.  This will serve you well in life because life isn't always easy.

4.  Learn at every single opportunity.  Never stop learning.  Read, ask questions, and try new things.  Once you have learned something and know it well, share your knowledge.  Teach others.  Don't keep it to yourself.  Learning is a gift and teaching is a privilege.

5.  Be faithful.  Believe in your amazing creator.  Seek his path for your life, and follow it everyday.

6.  Be the best YOU that you can be, and be proud of yourself because you were created with intent for a special purpose.  You are fearfully and wonderfully made.  There is no one else like you.

I am so honored and thankful that God chose me to be your mom.  What a blessing he had in store!! You are loved beyond measure.  Happy 6th birthday!

Love,
Mom

Winter 2015

It's been another cold Winter, but thank goodness that we did not have the Winter storms like last year.  We played outside when it wasn't too cold.  Hudson went to the Augusta Futurity, we celebrated Dave and Mom's birthdays and went to see the Harlem Globetrotters play.  Hudson was a 100yr old on his 100th day of school, and Spring baseball started back up which makes my little guy very happy.

2014 Year End Review part 2 July-December

July

July started off on a sad note as we lost our beloved Chipper.  He was almost 15 years old, and was such a sweet part of our family.  He was a good boy, and lived a good life.

We went to the lake with our besties for July 4th and had fun celebrating and enjoying summer.

We also had our long anticipated beach trip in July.  Hudson loves the beach so much.  He lives to get up and go for a 2-3 hour bike ride around the island then spend the rest of the day boogie boarding and swimming.

At the end of the month it was time for soccer evaluations for the Fall season.

August
August was the most exciting month of 2014.  It was a busy month full of birthdays, and new beginnings.  We started off celebrating Uncle Lee's birthday.

We spent the last couple days of summer soaking in the fun and sun.

Lynda and LD came to visit and we got together with lots of cousins at Uncle Pete's house.  It's always a fun time there.

Hudson started his first day of kindergarten.

Sadly, Dave's grandfather passed away and we went down to Florida.  It was bittersweet as we enjoyed being with his family and Hudson had fun with his cousins.  Dave's grandfather was such an influential man who contributed so much in his time here on Earth.  There was a wonderful celebration of his life.

Fall soccer season started back up.  Hudson had a great coach and team.

My baby turned five!  5...so hard to believe!!!  We celebrated in style with a DAWGS themed birthday party at a local gym.

Go DAWGS!!!  Georgia's football season started which meant that we were occupied watching the games every Saturday.

September
We were busy with soccer in September.

Brantley turned 2 and had a fun construction themed party.

Hudson had school pictures made.  They were so cute.  He looks so grown up.  Can you tell who he looks like?  That's me in kindergarten and H.

 October
We enjoyed celebrating Fall by going to pumpkin patches, and the local dairy farm with our friends.  My kindergartener was enjoying school and learning so much. His class went on their first field trip and the highlight was riding on the school's bus.

He decided that he wanted to ditch the training wheels.

Mom, Hudson, and I made a trip down to south Georgia for my sweet friend Laura's gorgeous wedding.  It was fun showing Hudson all of that "south Georgia snow".

Pumpkin carving and Halloween provided us more opportunities to hang out with great friends.

November

David Perdue elected!  Yay!

Hudson's first ever trip to the county fair

We had some unseasonably warm weather, so we took advantage of every minute of it!

Hudson's first Ga game with great friends...such a fun experience

fun Thanksgiving party at school, and we were excited to celebrate this year at Uncle Lee's new house

our Christmas tree and singing at church

December

December was filled with all things Christmas.  We visited with friends on Boxing Day and Hudson and I went to Athens after Christmas to visit with my friend, Jeanna who was home visiting her parents.   We had a great 2014!
