Having fun with cousins

We've been here in Alabama for several days now, and we are having lots of fun. Hudson loves being with the family, and esp. playing with Ella. He's "her baby". We took them to the Montgomery Zoo yesterday. The monkeys were his favorite.
We went to Bass Pro Shop to see Santa last night. FAIL...again! He still does not like Santa. Oh well, he did enjoy being at Bass Pro.
Just wanted to post a quick update. I hope that all of you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families.
Stay tuned....
Coming up tomorrow...15 month post

Happy Thanksgiving and 15 months update

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! We are thankful for many things on this day, but having a healthy boy tops the list.

We are having such a wonderful time with our family in Alabama. Hudson and Ella are enjoying being together. He really likes playing with all of her "big kid" toys.

Hudson is 15 months old today. WOW! 15 MONTHS!
Dear Huddy Buddy,

We are still trucking along on this journey, and learning everyday. You amaze me at how smart you are and how you change daily. You are becoming such a wonderful little boy. It seems like you've gotten a lot taller this month. You're losing the baby fat and have slimmed up so much because you never stop. You are constantly running around. You are into everything. I mean EVERYTHING!!! You call your dad "Dave" sometimes, and you call me "Baby" at times. I guess that's what you hear us call each other. You have even started calling Nana "Meme", but you still call her "Nana" sometimes, so who knows what her name will be? Nothing gets by you. You mimic everything we do. Some of your new words this month are: "shoes", "socks", "eyes", "Bubba", "Granddaddy", "Papa", "Jake", "Go Dawgs", and "cup" (among others). You look at us and matter-of-factly jibber off what's on your mind. When you want something to eat or drink, or if we ask you if you are thirsty, you go to the kitchen and sit down on the rug. We don't let you walk around with your cup.

You love dogs right now. You like to read books about them, look and point at them, sing about them, and talk about them. When you are asked what a dog says, you make a barking noise....so cute!

You are still wearing mostly 18 months clothes, and size 6W shoes. You're in size 5 or 6 diapers. We are having to get your hair cut about every 3 weeks, but you really could use a haircut every 2 weeks. You are a total "Daddy's boy". You LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your daddy.

Your favorite foods are still cheese, pancakes, mandarin oranges, chicken, and green beans. You really love black eyed peas too, and lima beans. You drink whole milk and water. You got another tooth (upper molar) this month. Now you have 10, and you have two molars on the right side that I can see just below the gums. You like to show off by "jumping" (lifting one foot up in the air). You can step up and down the one step to get inside/outside.

You love watching Barney and Seseme Street. You will climb up in my lab and sit there to watch your favorite show. I love cuddling with you.

You are growing so fast. I got your album of all your professional pictures of your first year from Haley Lamb. It made me cry to see how little you were and watch you grow and change so quickly in each photo.

Even though I miss my little baby, this stage is SO MUCH FUN. I may have to keep my running shoes on, but I wouldn't change a thing.

Thank you for being so precious, entertaining, wonderful, handsome, and lovable. I love you more than words and can't wait to see you continue to grow.
I love this most beautiful profile on the planet!

Thankful

I am SO thankful to be on Thanksgiving break. I'm looking forward to spending lots of time with my little guy and our family. We have a full agenda planned with lots of fun to be had. Now that schools out for a week, I can officially get into the holiday spirit.

Here's a few of Hudson's Christmas pictures taken by Ashleigh Dees.

These are just a few of Hudson having fun at the park. In case you haven't noticed....he knocks my socks off! I love him so much!

Picture Post

typical male pose...kicked back in his chair, watching T.V.. All he needs now is a remote and a big glass of tea and he's set.
I love, love, love his dimples. We still don't know where he got them. No one on either side of our families has 2 dimples, but they are so adorable.

This laugh makes my day.

All he wants for Christmas is a couple of shoe boxes. Why do we spend our money on toys?

There's a first time for everything

Experiencing the stomach virus with Hudson for the first time has been NO FUN! Early Friday morning (12:30 am), Hudson sat straight up in bed and threw up. As I watched this on the video monitor, I was horrified. Of course no mama wants her baby to be sick. Dave and I went into "GO" mode. I grabbed the baby and he started cleaning up the bedding. The poor boy threw up about every 30 mins until 4:45 am. He was so pitiful and pale. We went through 4 sets of sheets and 7 pairs of pajamas. I stayed home with him on Friday, and by Friday afternoon he was feeling much better. He's been acting fine all weekend, but has not really had too much of an appetite.
Unfortunately, Dave started with the dreaded stomach virus on Saturday night. We are just cleaning, lysol-ing, and trying to fight this nasty bug out of our house.

On a lighter note, I was able to do a little shopping this weekend, and purchased a few Christmas presents. It was nice to get out and do something productive (hey, shopping is productive).
Today, I am leaving you with two throw backs. I can't believe he was ever this little. Look at that little bald head!

Kidney appointment update and Halloween

Hudson went to CMC today for another follow-up appointment with Dr. Donohoe (pediatric urologist). They did an ultrasound to compare to the one they did while the stent was still in place. Everything looked the same. The kidney is still dilated which means there is still some degree of reflux. Doc said that he expected to see that, and that everything looked good (as expected). He's still urinating well, and producing urine well. Those are the main things. He goes back in another month for another VCUG test. This test is a little more extensive and will give them a clearer picture of what degree his reflux is. We pray it will be gone by then! He's been refluxing at grade 4 out of 5 since birth. So, in the meantime, we continue to monitor him and ensure that he's producing urine and peeing well. We also continue the antibiotic. We were hoping to be off it by now. (he's been on antibiotic since birth) Hopefully the day is coming, but until then we will follow doc's orders. They also did blood work to check his kreatinin levels to make sure the kidney is filtering out the toxins appropriately. We are so thankful that he had a good checkup and that he is doing well.
For the past 6 weeks or so, we have been planning Halloween festivities with our great friends. I think the moms were looking forward to it much more than the kids. It was Hudson's first time Trick-or-Treating, and he had so much fun with Claire and Ila. I am so thankful for Jennifer and Barrett and their family. They are so wonderful to us, and to Hudson. He loves them a ton too! It was great to be with great friends and family. Here are some pictures.
This boy LOVES Jennifer. When he sees her, he just puts his arms up for her to hold him. I am so thankful to have her as a friend. Mrs. Anne is so sweet to Hudson. We love her.

My little giraffe, and Pebbles. I was so glad that Erin, Jarvis, and Ila were able to come too. Again, I'm so thankful for their friendship.

My little family.
I love my giraffe!

Hudson the giraffe, and Claire the zebra.
Off we go!

I can't wait until we get home. I want to taste this candy NOW!

YUM! Thanks, Nana!!!

I'm tired of walking. Time to hop on the golf cart with Nana and Barrett.

I love this picture. It's so much fun having wonderful friends with babies all the same age.
