Two years ago today, I scrubbed in and walked my baby boy who had just turned one into a cold, bright, sterile operating room.  Only God could give me the strength I needed to lay him down on that table.  We sat for seven long, grueling hours waiting for his surgery to be complete.  Praying, waiting, praying waiting.  Each update came and went.  We were so blessed to be at a wonderful hospital with a wonderful surgeon and surgical team.  I had a God given peace all day.  Looking back, I really do not understand how I made it through that day.  We spent the week in the hospital and had several ups and downs.  Words will never adequately express the emotion and feelings that you feel while watching your child in pain.  Hudson is such a special gift to us.  Thank you, Lord for blessing us with his amazing little spirit.

Birthday Weekend and 33/52

Hudson has had a wonderful birthday weekend.  We have certainly enjoyed celebrating.  We've had lots of family in town, and lots of friends to enjoy spending time with too.  We started off the weekend at Sconyers (best BBQ around) on Friday evening, and Saturday morning was a mini family reunion with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins to celebrate several birthdays.  It was lots of fun and we always love being out at Uncle Pete's house.  Next was Hud's party, and it was great to see all of his guests there..all 51 of them!  We are so blessed to have so many people that love our sweet boy.  We had mexican and  hung out with more friends and family until late Sat. evening.  Hudson loved having Ella spend the weekend with him too.  What a great weekend!  There was no way for me to narrow down just one picture of the week this week, so here goes...

I'm sad to see this weekend end.

Happy Birthday Hudson! 3 year post

Dear Hudson, It's amazing how quickly the past 3 years have flown by.  You entered this world and suddenly changed our lives forever.  We are so grateful and blessed that God chose you to be our little boy.  I will never forget the second I found out I was pregnant with you.  I immediately knew that you were a boy.  I just had a feeling.

You have accomplished a lot this year like being potty trained back in the Winter, and learning to swim this Summer. We are so proud of you for adjusting to preschool. This is your first time in school and you are doing well. You have only been going for three weeks now but we see changes in you already and you seem to be a little more mature as well.

You are very excited about your Lightning McQueen birthday party. You are very energetic and active, but you will entertain yourself with your monster trucks, cars, or trains. You still love playing ball too.

Mac and cheese is your favorite thing to eat. You like cheese sticks, crackers, and sandwiches too. You love bread, but you aren't into sweets except for ice cream.

You really like music, and it's so cute when you get little songs stuck in your head and sing them. When it's time to eat, we often have to say at least two blessings. You know a couple of different ones, and want to say them all before a meal.

You are really into reading.  You like to "read" and you love being read to.  You've gotten into the pretend phase lately, and it's cute to listen to you vocalize your thoughts about things when you are playing make believe.

You're a tall boy, but that's no surprise.  I'll post your 3yr. stats when you have your well visit in September.  You are wearing size 3T clothes, and you wear a 10 1/2 wide shoe.  You grew a lot this summer because most of the shorts that you started the season in are WAY too short now.

You often say things like "When I was little.....", or "When I was a baby...".  I think it's precious that you don't see yourself as little anymore.

For Halloween this year, you are excited about being Woody from Toy Story.  Ila Jane is going to be Jesse, and you can't wait.  The other day you told me that you would have to get some "new hair, and new eyes, and new ears because yours were different than Woody's".  Too cute!!

Papa is your favorite person ever.  You are so silly with him, and LOVE playing with him.  You two are funny together.  You request to go to his house all the time.

You are still staying with Nana, Claire, and Charlotte on the days that you don't go to school, and after school.  You and Claire are still 2 peas in a pod, and you are sweet with Baby Charlotte.  You really want to help with her and take care of her.

We have had lots of rain lately, and one morning we were in the car and you said "Jesus makes the rain so the grass and trees can grow.".  I love hearing you say sweet little things like that.

I know that we are biased, but we think that you are the most fun, sweetest, smartest, most precious, and most handsome little boy.

You are also very inquisitive, curious, determined, and strong willed.  You get that honest.  You must know who, what, when, where, why, and how.

As I scroll through all of these pictures of your beautiful face, I just cannot believe how fast you are growing up.  It seems like just yesterday that you were the little baby at the top of this post and then part of me can't even remember you that small.

We love you so much, Hudson David Sorrells!

You motivate, encourage, inspire, and enhance our lives every single day.

I can't wait to watch you continue to grow and learn.

Thank you for being such a light in our lives.

Happy, Happy, Happy THIRD birthday big boy!!!

Love you tons, Mommy
