Challenge

I enjoy blogging and reading other blogs.  Since it's summer time, and I have a little more time to blog, I'm going to participate in Jenna' Blog Challenge.  I'm excited about finding some new blogs to follow.
Since I'm actually a day late, I'll cover topics from day 1 and day 2 in this post.

If you are new to my blog, then welcome!  My name is Lisa, and I'm a kindergarten teacher in Georgia.  I love my job, because I get to witness awesome kids grow and learn so much during the most important school year of their career.  This coming school year will be my 10th year teaching.  I'm married to Dave and we will be celebrating 7 years of marriage in a few weeks.

We have an amazing son named Hudson who is almost 3, and is ALL BOY.  He loves his monster trucks, playing any kind of ball, and swimming.

I started blogging in 2009 not long after Hudson was born.  I originally started the blog to keep our friends and family updated with Hudson's medical updates.  Since he was born with one kidney and hydronephrosis with a mega ureter, we had lots of appointments during his first year.  You can read more about that here.  The blog was an easy way to keep all of our prayer warriors up do date with info when Hud had his big surgery right after he turned 1, and you can see those posts starting here.  My little boy is a champ!

Since I was never really good at recording information and milestones in the baby book, this blog has also been a journal to record all sorts of milestones and other things that I just want to remember.  I can put pictures and document things permanently that I might otherwise forget here on the blog.  I love going back and reading things that I wrote about in the past, and seeing how much my buddy has grown through the pictures.  I hope that one day Hudson will enjoy reading this blog.  I hope that he won't be too embarrassed.  I think about how neat it would be if my grandma, or great grandma had been able to keep a blog, and how it would be so cool to read what they would have written.

Even though I don't do it nearly enough, I like to use my blog to advocate for children overseas who are hoping to find forever homes.  There are many beautiful children here that need families.

Ok, so I think that just about covers it.  Now you know me and you know why I blog.  Cant wait to read more of your blogs!

Go Away Sickies!!!

What a week!  I mentioned in my last post that Hud had "something viral".  Well, whatever it is has been a potent virus.  We stayed in pretty much the whole week, and didn't do much of anything.  Hudson has not felt great, and although he has been fever free for 4 days now, he's still complaining of his tummy hurting.

Since we have been home so much, I've been working on H's big boy room.  It's been a year in the making, and we are finally almost done.  He stopped sleeping in his crib last summer, so it's about time that we have his room complete.  He loves his big bed, but there are a few finishing touches that I am waiting on.  I hung his canvas', and I LOVE them.  I saw this project on Pinterest, and modified it a bit.  This is not a great picture because it's from my phone, but these canvas' are my little buddy at 6 mo, 1 1/2, and 2 1/2.  I'll be sure to post more pics of his room once it's finished.

Where has the month of June gone?  Summer needs to seriously SLOOOOW down.  We have several trips coming up and we are very excited.  I just ready for my Huddy Buddy to be 100% again.

I just love this picture of H and Ila.  They are so funny.

25/52..This week's photo of the week was taken at the mall.  The other night when Dave got home from work, H and I just HAD to get out of the house, so we went to the mall to walk around.  He loves riding this little bus with Authur.  The photo of the week challenge was meant for me to try new things and learn more about my DSLR camera, but I think most of the pics have come from the iphone. Oh well.

Busy Weekend and 24/52

We had a jam packed weekend of fun.  TWO princess parties to attend, Cousin Chris was in town, and it was Fathers Day.  The first Princess Party of the day was Ila Jane's.  We got there and H and I started jumping.  I love mid-air pictures. Hehe!

They had not been jumping 5 minutes when  H came out of the inflatable holding his side like he is doing in the picture below and saying his "belly hurt".  He had a fall earlier in the week when we were at the park where he was running and ran off a 3 ft. wall and landed on concrete with his shoulder and side bearing his weight.  He jumped right back up and started playing, and we didn't think much more about it.  Well, at the party when he came out saying he was hurt, we knew that he really couldn't have gotten hurt in the inflatable unless he landed wrong when he flipped or something to that effect.  He would try to jump and climb the little ladder up to the slide but would come out holding his side/upper rib cage area saying he hurt.  After a little while, he didn't complain as much, and he did have a great time at the party.  We went to Claire's fun Princess Party and he was fine there with no complaining.  We even went back over and jumped some more at Ila's that night and he seemed fine.

On Sunday morning, he woke up and began really complaining that he "hurt".  Every single time that we asked him where he hurt or what was wrong, he tapped the same spot.  I really began to worry this morning when he was screaming in pain.  He was also running high fevers through the night and I knew it was time to go get checked out.  We went to see Dr. Nesbit today, and he checked him really good.  He thinks that Hudson maybe pulled a muscle and could possibly have torn cartledge.  There's nothing that can be done except to watch him closely and pray that he heals.  He also has "something viral" which is causing the fevers.  That keeps up in this week, and away from hanging out with friends, but that's ok as long as my little buddy starts feeling better.  I'm just very thankful that it was nothing more serious.  This boy is rambunctious and never stops running, jumping, spinning, sliding, and flipping.  I guess that's just what boys do.

24/52...I'm a little behind on this past week's photos of the week, but check out these beautiful birthday girls.  Cinderella even stopped by as a special guest for Claire.
I love this pic of Ila and Hudson.  She is so cute in her new bathing suit.

Happy 3rd Birthday Princess Ila!

Friends...
 A friend is
 someone we turn to
 when our spirits
 need a lift.
 A friend is
 someone we treasure
 for our friendship
 is a gift.
 A friend is someone
 who fills our lives
 with beauty,
 joy,
 and grace.
 And makes the
 whole world we live in
 a better
 and happier place.

Happy 3rd Birthday Princess Claire!

You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me

When the road looks rough ahead

And you're miles and miles from your nice warm bed
Just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got troubles, well I've got em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
We stick together and we see it through
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
 Some other folks might be
A little bit smarter than I am
 Bigger and stronger too
 Maybe
But none of them will ever love you the way I do
 It's me and you
And as the years go by
 Our friendship will never die
You're gonna see it's our destiny
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
YOU'VE got a friend in me
